MEMENTOES at Nordic Game: Showcasing cultural impact through play

The MEMENTOES project participated in this year’s Nordic Game event as part of the Games for Culture Cluster (GCC), contributing to a dynamic exchange between researchers, game developers, and policy makers. Read on for a look back at our time at the event.

Showcasing Games from MEMENTOES

At the exhibition, the MEMENTOES team presented our three games: Those From Below, Gulag Diaries, and We Grew Up in War. Demonstrating our games allowed us to share with attendees how cultural heritage can be reimagined and preserved through interactive storytelling and gameplay.

Shaping Policy Conversations

MEMENTOES also took part in the Games Policy Summit with some of our sister projects in the GCC, GREAT, GAME-ER, and i-Game. Together, the group engaged in discussions around the role of games in European policy, cultural development, and innovation.

Cluster Collaboration: “Game On” Workshop

During the hybrid internal GCC meeting and workshop “Game On: Moving GCC Forward”, members gathered for the first time in person. Key discussions focused on:

  • The current state of clustering activities
  • Member expectations and contributions
  • Future needs for stronger collaboration

A key takeaway was the need to amplify the added value of EU project results by documenting shared lessons learned. Read more in the mind map summary: Games for Culture Cluster Met in Malmö

Research Meets Practice: Games for Culture Workshop

  • The importance of cross-sector, inclusive, intentional, and sustainable partnerships
